A key part of your project involves explaining where it stands in relation to other related work. This is one of the aspects that differentiates a masters project from a task you might undertake in your professional work.

In order to understand the context of your project, you will read and cite a number of relevant academic papers. Finding the relevant papers is part of your project. One good starting point to use is Google Scholar. However, many papers you’ll want to read are copyrighted and the full text will not be available for free online.

UCD has subscriptions to a vast number of online journals and conference proceedings. These can be accessed inside or outside UCD by browsing to the UCD library homepage and using OneSearch find the paper you want.
